I was lucky enough to book in an appointment with Koren Thomas - The Leading Artistic Director of ii Alchemy hair & nail located in Jardine House, Central. I opted for a Balayage treatment which is the technique of free-hand painting highlights onto the hair.

Upon booking my appointment, Koren was extremely accommodating and attentive and asked for some photos first of my current hair and any hair style/colours I had in mind. We then discussed what would suit my face and it gave both of us more clarity with the style to be created, and me - much more confidence that I knew what I was going to be getting with my stylist.

Upon arrival, I was shown to my seat and offered a beverage and some magazines to sit back and relax. Koren was extremely pleasant to work with and made me feel confident throughout the whole treatment as she explained clearly what she would be doing and would be using. As my hair had gone quite warm and more on the brighter side, I wanted to tone it down and have it be more ashy for winter.

She used foil balayage and created dimensions of brunette and blonde for added texture and tone. She used darker and warmer shades of brown in between my layers and also added some caramel in to enhance my face a little bit more. Her attention to detail is definitely a stand out and her professionalism can make anyone at ease in her hands!

I have had many hair disasters and especially with adding colour, there is always the fear of it drying your hair out or making it brittle. Koren uses high quality products and also gave me some tips on some hair masks and things I can do at home to maintain it which was extremely helpful! The whole process (balayage, adding a toner and trimming my hair to keep my layers fresh) look approximately 3 hours and Koren finished it off by adding some textured waves so the colour and dimension stood out more.

This was by FAR my favourite hairstyle and colour I have ever gotten and Koren really understood the look I wanted to achieve and gave me that - and more! She is one of, if not the best hair stylist in Hong Kong (especially for Balayage!) and a definite recommendation from us!
