STAYCATOIN: ORIENTAL RESIDENCES, BANGKOK
Located in the heart of Bangkok’s business district on Wireless Road lies the luxurious Oriental Residence Hotel. Opened since January 2012, Oriental Residences is a hotel that is set within a 32-storey building and features 145 lavish appointed suites, all which ensure the utter most comfort for any guest staying there.
Upon check-in, the hotel lobby was beautifully designed and really gave us that authentic thai feeling. The staff were very polite and assisted us thoroughly from check in to check out. The room I stayed in was the Grand Deluxe King room. The Grand Deluxe King room featured a fully-equipped kitchen, marble flooring, fully stocked minibar, LED Television, Tea/Coffee facilities, Vanity sink and a full marble bathroom with a separate glass-enclosed shower.
The ambience of the room was perfect for a staycation. It was light and elegant but still seemed very lavish due to the rich contrasting colours in the room. One aspect within the hotel worth visiting is the Oriental Bar. Located on the second floor of the Oriental Residence Hotel, the Oriental Bar showcases a beautiful scenery of the nearby parks and embassies. Other than being very tranquil, the bar boasts an extensive drink menu with 5 signature cocktails that have been inspired by the favourite cocktails of honoured ambassadors of various embassies. The five signature cocktails include Embassy Classic (Jim beam, martini rosso, angostura and rosemary sprig), The Oriental (Belvedere, Bombay sapphire, lime juice and blackberry syrup), Kiwi Wireless (Gordon, pineapple, lime juice and fresh kiwi), Killer Jack (Jack Daniels, passion fruit, lime juice and Prosecco), and my personal favourite Wild Berry Mojito (Bacardi rum, mixed berries, lime juice and passion fruit popsicle).
Oriental Residence also features various dining options such as The Play Deck, Savelberg Thailand, and a café-restaurant called Café Claire that is known for their gourmet comfort food and finest ingredients that is presented with artistic flair. In addition to this, a fitness centre and meeting and event rooms are also available to use for guests.
What stood out for me was learning that Oriental Residence is very active in CSR and consistently hosts charitable activities. They sell Oriental Residence teddy bears in which the funds are donated to Freeland’s “Surviving Together” program that strives to protect and conserve our biodiversity. Overall, Oriental Residence went above and beyond on my expectations. The home-like atmosphere and modern twist of the hotel was very refreshing and the service was impeccable.
