STAYCATION: FUFU KAWAGUCHIKO: THE MOST LUXURIOUS SUITES WITH BREATHTAKING VIEWS OF MT.FUJI
Set in Fujikawaguchiko, FUFU Kawaguchiko is a Japanese luxury boutique resort rich in local character and free of tiresome clichés. It marries the impeccable personalized service of a Japanese ryokan with the homey feel of a forest lodge, providing guests with a perfect base to explore the natural beauty of Yamanashi by masterfully blurring the lines between indoors and out. The hotel is only 5 km from Lake Kawaguchi, proving to be a favourite for travellers.
There are 32 attractively furnished suites all feature exquisite views of Mt. Fuji across the glittering waters of Lake Kawaguchiko. We stayed in the FUFU Luxury Suite which was amazing. The room featured two big single beds, a lounge area, dyson hairdryer, TV, humidifier, minibar and coffee/tea, Wi-Fi, roomwear, haori coats, pajamas, organic bathroom amenities to name a few. It also had a private open-air bath in natural hot spring water and a bedrock bath made with volcanic stone from Mount Fuji. The mini bar also had purified water with the Fuji stones in it that we could drink.
Restaurant Yamanoha serves playful modern kaiseki course breakfast and dinner, showcasing fine local produce and Yamanashi's famed wines. The dishes are with local ingredients that capture the essence of the region. They are prepared using fragrant firewood, dancing flames, and volcanic stone from Mount Fuji can be experienced only here at FUFU Kawaguchiko. No matter when you visit, guests are able to enjoy seasonal ingredients when they're at their most delicious. Eeach table at the restaurant also provides a view of Mount Fuji while maintaining your privacy.
We indulged in their kaiseki dinner set which was a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds. We sat in a private room to enjoy our meal which is perfect for couples or if you want some privacy. Every dish was served with sure precision and presented beautifully. You could test the freshness of all the ingredients and the intricate flavours the chef had prepared.
The breakfast focused on regional dishes such as rice cooked with a wood-burning kamado stove, hearty vegetable soup, gratin made with locally produced natto (fermented soy beans), Japanese yams, and Jiyoran eggs. There was nothing better than waking up and enjoying the amazing flavours with a view of Mount Fuji
The FUFU Kawaguchiko experience also includes a tree-enclosed lobby lounge, a bar lounge under the starry sky, a patio warmed by the flames of a firepit, a garden cooled by refreshing breezes and four gazebos--Kokage, Tsutsumu, Soyogu, Akara--with seating of various kinds where you can enjoy a drink or snack. A gift shop is also located in the hotel that lets you take a piece of FUFU home with you.
We decided to head down to the bar for a pre-dinner drink. We were served at a counter carved of solid timber sourced from a local zelkova tree. The bar view was beautiful as it resembled a forest at night. We opted for a FUFU Kawaguchiko original cocktail and tried some of their famous japanese whisky.
Guests can also enjoy natural hot spring waters fed by the hotels in-house spring in a bath lined with volcanic stone from Mount Fuji. The men's bath includes a Finnish-style dry sauna, while the women's bath is outfitted with a skin-soothing mist sauna. There is also drinks available (detox waters and mini beers) available complimentary at the area. FUFU Kawaguchiko also offers spa packages for those who want to indulge and relax more.
What I loved was that you could also experience a variety of activities during the stay such as a nature tours of Mt. Fuji or a handicraft workshop instructed by local people that were easily accessible from the hotel.
All the staff at the hotel were extremely polite, professional and ensured that we were very comfortable with our stay and well taken care of. This is the perfect place to escape to with your significant other or family
