Meet Charlotte Chesnais: The jewellery designer bringing a fresh perspective to the jewellery world

A timeless jewellery designer, Charlotte Chesnais makes ingenious pieces that flirt with both jewellery and sculpture.

Charlotte Chesnais created her first piece of jewellery whilst working alongside Nicolas Ghesquière as a fashion designer for Balenciaga, where she designed a multi-cuff that played with proportion and was conceived to be stacked. Midway between a jewellery classic and an inspired reworking, the bangle carried the seed of the Charlotte Chesnais brand: continuous, clean lines, an understanding of the body and a confident singularity. Nearly six years after that first step, she set up her own house in 2015.

The fluidity of her jewellery offers a unique sense of movement whilst remaining minimal. Inspired by the sculptures of Jean Arps as well as Matisse’s collages, Charlotte Chesnais challenges the jewellery norm with her creations.

Her architectural collection of cuffs, earrings and rings is handmade in France by the best ateliers and are available in silver and vermeil.

As a challenge to herself, she presents the Fall 2016 collection incorporating precious stones like diamonds, sapphires, and topazes set on her pieces of jewellery. These new materials add sparkle and an even more precious feel to the Saturn earrings or the multi-hoop earrings which have become a mainstay.

Highly desirable by fashionistas and editors around the world, her jewellery pieces can sometimes leave us a bit confused for a while on how to place the voluminous shape before making us falling in love with the way they wrap elegantly around wrists, fingers and ears.

Her brand also offers custom made jewellery. It could be gemstones to set, lines to personalize, contours to create. Singular requests produce uncommon jewellery; they create made-to-measure pieces and provide custom alterations for existing jewellery.
