Staycation: The Ocean Club Bahamas ~ A Four Seasons Resort

Staycation: The Ocean Club Bahamas ~ A Four Seasons Resort

Sometimes you arrive at the resort and feel immediately at home. That’s exactly how we felt, when we walked through the doors of The Four Seasons Ocean Club. Hospitable team made us feel very welcome with complimentary drinks on arrival, rum cake in the room and lots of presents like hats, beach bags and fancy Four Seasons luggage tags.

The resort boasts the most beautiful setting – luscious green grounds, tall palm trees and the most incredible beach I have ever seen. The water is clean and deep, bright turquoise, the sand – soft white powder. There is hardly a better beach you could find in North America for swimming. Arrival is made very easy with hotel car picking up guests from the airport. Cars come equipped with wifi and complimentary water.

We stayed in a wonderful one-bedroom suite with a spectacular view of the sea. Suites are very spacious and offer indoor and outdoor living with large terrace set up with plush sun beds, table setting perfect for enjoying a glass of champagne at sunset, which by the way gets served every evening by your butler to the room as a compliment from The Ocean Club.  Spacious living room is designed for entertainment, large double bathroom for relaxation and bedroom for romance. You see the sea from every window and wake up to the sound of waves and birds singing in paradise.

Oceanview rooms are also beautiful, starting from 40 sq meters. All come either with a balcony or, if you are on a ground floor, terrace with direct access to the palm tree lawn.

Families can enjoy two-bedroom bungalows – free standing cottages on resort grounds. They don’t have views, but offer ample space for those who desire it. For the ultimate luxury travel experience at the Bahamas book a Royal Villa. There are three of these at the resort, starting from USD $7,000 per night. Each beachfront villa is your own home away from home with over 400 sq meters of living space, private garden, swimming pool, butlers and chefs on call.

With only 98 rooms, suites and villas the resort occupies a huge territory. There is a lot of space and privacy for everyone. If you’d like to see and be seen, head to the beachfront pool. Comfortable day beds will get set up for you by the friendly pool staff and they will serve you complimentary water to keep you hydrated. Every few hours they will also spoil you with a piece of fruit or a glass of homemade punch. For those seeking privacy try the adults only pool, set up in a quiet part of the resort, facing the French gardens. French gardens deserve a special mention, mini Versailles brought to Bahamas in the 1940s, a wonderful place to get lost with your loved one to admire the sculptures and European elegance at its best.

If you are here with the kids, you could take your family to Atlantis for the day. Ocean Club guests get complimentary access so you could explore the waterpark and the aquarium. Transfer is made seamless with Four Seasons complimentary shuttle available on stand-by for hotel guests. You could also entertain the youngsters with water sports, available on the beach – jet skis, banana boat rides, parasailing or stand up paddle boards.

We already mentioned the beach – it is one of the most incredible beaches you’d ever see in your life. Many families spend the whole day on the sand and in the water – swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding. You could get lunch served either on the beach or poolside, so there is no reason at all to leave your deck chairs until sunset.

For active travellers, there is daily yoga at 8am, tennis lessons with a pro, fitness studio. For those who like their holidays a little slower, there is a beautiful spa offering all the traditional face and body treatments and massages. I had a deep tissue massage that was incredible. My female therapist was a local and they are naturally very strong. A perfect massage that relaxed my muscles and put me to sleep.

The day at Ocean Club starts from a beautiful breakfast served in hotel’s signature restaurant Ocean. It is an elegant a la carte affair with lots of healthy dishes on the menu – chia seeds soaked in coconut milk, served with fresh berries, green juice, fresh fruit plate as well as traditional dishes like eggs Benedict and buttermilk pancakes. The servers are keen to help and make sure you are enjoying yourself. Things take a little longer here as everything operates on ‘island time’, but that didn’t seem like an issue, just more time to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Lunch could be served in the restaurant, beachside or by the pool. Most guests choose poolside dining and on the menu you can find guacamole, tuna tartar, a couple of salads, burgers and pizza. All very yummy.

Overall this was an amazing experience and definitely top of our list to visit again!
