Staycation: Checking into the W Singapore

Staycation: Checking into the W Singapore

Many of us haven’t been able to travel for a long time and it’s a real treat to hop on a plane again and explore a new city or visit the city you know well again. I’ve visited Singapore many times, yet on this trip have discovered a new jewel, W Singapore – Sentosa Cove.

Sentosa is a wonderful resort island in Singapore, only 15 minutes away from the busy city centre. It is so close, yet feels miles away; it is a green, luscious, tropical island surrounded by South China Sea.

W Singapore is located next to One 15 Marina Club, home to the most exquisite yachts in Singapore. It is a great pedestrian area, with lots of scenic walks, running trails  and excellent promenade restaurants steps away from hotel’s front door.

W Singapore has 240 rooms including 27 suites. We had a pleasure of staying in a Fabulous room on level 6 with a superb view of the sea. The rooms are very spacious, all featuring private balconies with day beds and a table for two. Balconies have shade all day, so you could comfortably relax there reading a book, having lunch or even set up your laptop and work. The bathroom has both a shower and bath, making the rooms very family-friendly.

If you are not so keen on a view, but prefer privacy and a private pool, rooms on the ground floor with mini-pools might be for you. They are very romantic, suited for couples.

If ultimate luxury is more your style, WOW Suite will delight with 96 sq meters of living space, with a combined dining and living area, one bedroom, private terrace and a plunge pool all the way on level 7. This room can be converted to a two-bedroom suite with an interconnecting room, making it perfect for families.

Facilities

Highlight of the resort is a huge swimming pool that plays music underwater to delight adults and has a fun water-slide to entertain the youngsters. The pool has plenty of space, lots of day beds and provides pool toys and inflatables to make the day by the pool even more fun.

Hotel gym is possibly the best gym in Singapore as far as hotel gyms go – it is spacious and very well equipped with cardio and weight machines, enough to provide a very effective workout for an active guest.

Away Spa, W signature spa, is also here to spoil you with relaxing massages and facials. Massage rooms are beautifully designed in white and oak colours and feature very comfortable, modern massage tables. Steam, sauna and vitality pools complement the spa facilities, making it a wonderful sanctuary for relaxation.

Dining

Breakfast at the W Singapore is served al-fresco, a la carte style. The hotel is cautious of keeping everyone safe so they moved away from buffet to a la carte, same as all other Singaporean hotels. The menu is delicious with many European and Asian choices. My favourite? Carrot juice followed by an avocado toast, yum!

Evenings are fun in Sentosa and I suggest starting your night with a cocktail masterclass at Woo Bar. It was something new and interesting we tried on this trip. Even kids can attend the class before 7pm and enjoy making a virgin mojito or any other mocktail they fancy.

For dinner you can’t miss W’s signature restaurant SKIRT.

It is well-known in Singapore for premium steaks and is a real treat for the whole family. They have a display of premium meats from around the world – Australia, New Zealand, USA, Japan, raging from different grade wagyu to dry aged specialties, so you can choose your meat and enjoy it cooked to perfection.

Everything about this hotel stay was wonderful and we will definitely be making a trip back soon!
