Mezcal Mission - A Curated Tequila and Mezcal Tasting at COA
Newly crowned the #8 bar in the world by Worlds 50 best bars, COA is raising funds for vulnerable families in Hong Kong through an event they call ‘Mezcal Mission.’
COA will partner with tequila and mezcal producers to host tasting flights that will take place on Monday nights, bi-weekly at their bar located in Central. Since the bar will be closed to the public, it will provide an exciting and unique experience for guests to sample and learn about these handcrafted spirits whilst supporting a great cause.
Owner Jay Khan has highlighted family owned small-batch tequila and mezcal. Many producers of these traditionally made spirits focus on helping their local communities. They do this by providing jobs with fair wages and treating employees like family. This focus on their community is a little known aspect of the tequila industry that COA would like to shine a light on and help exemplify by giving back to a charity serving the Hong Kong community. JayKhan(co-founder of COA) along with fellow mezcal enthusiast Andrew Davis have started a new group called the Mezcal Mission to do just that and help those in need.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong, an international non-profit housing organisation that has been helping the local community since 2004. These funds will contribute to Habitat's dedication to raising awareness of the need for affordable housing and harnessing resources to improve living conditions for families in Hong Kong and across the Asia-Pacific region. Their local programme ‘Project Home Works’ also provides a hand-up to low-income families, the elderly, and people living with disabilities in substandard housing through home repairs and deep cleaning. As Hong Kong looks to rebound from a very tough 2020, what better way to help the community than to spend a night with COA learning about hand crafted tequilas and mezcals and supporting a worthwhile cause.
Tastings will start Monday December 14th at 7:00 pm and will be $250 per seat. Since space will be limited, be sure to follow Mezcal Mission on Facebook and Instagram to enrol.
