London's Bubala Restaurant quickly becomes diners favourite!
Bubala is a Middle Eastern vegetarian restaurant located in East London. It is the debut restaurant of Marc Summers, previously General Manager at Berber & by Head Chef Helen Graham (The Palomar, The Barbary and The Good Egg). The menu has a wide range of items so you definitely won't miss your meat dishes. Dishes are marked on the menu if they're vegan or non-gluten free and anything asterisked can be made vegan upon request.
No matter what you order, you'll get the laffa flatbread, served warm, seething with oil on the edges crunchy in the middle, it is the ideal accomplice for wiping up the house hummus. Other favourite dishes included the fried halloumi that has been marinated in dark seed honey - something that was used for centuries in Persian medicine and the fried eggplant which was silky soft and dotted with date syrup and zhoug.
If you still have room for dessert, then definitely opt to order the salted caramel chocolate truffles, or a scoop of tangerine & tahini ice cream draped in date molasses.
On the menu you will also find unique cocktails such as the wonderfully-named Saline Dion - featuring Maldon sea salt, freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice and combined with fresh lime and agave syrup for balance and topped up with Prosecco.
Definitely a restaurant worth visiting if you’re in London.
