Staycation: Grand Hyatt, Melbourne
Grand Hyatt Melbourne is a pure luxury five-star hotel. Located on 123 Collins Street, the hotel is just wakling distance from some of central Melbourne’s main attractions. From the moment we strolled past the ultra-exclusive designer stores lining the entrance to the crystal lit Main Lobby, we knew this was going to be a very special hotel.
As soon as we arrived at the hotel, the concierge was waiting to greet us and immediately took care of any luggage we had. Check-in was a seamless process and the hotel also featured express elevators which meant little-to-no wait time throughout our whole stay.
Rooms
Grand Hyatt Melbourne features 550 spacious and stylish guest rooms, including 84 club rooms and 25 premium suites. All the rooms were luxurious and generously proportioned featuring king beds and a breathtaking floor-to-ceiling view of either the Melbourne skyline or Yarra River views. The rooms also featured a Flat-screen TV, Nespresso Coffeemaker, Mini Bar and more. However, the highlight was the sparkling Italian marble bathrooms which had separate showers and tubs as well as the cosiest robes and a generous selection of toiletries from the June Jacobs Spa Collection. Upon request, guests can also have newspapers delivered and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
Features
My favourite aspect of the hotel was the hotel’s fitness center - City Club. It is one of the largest and best-equipped health clubs in Central Melboune. In addition to the cardio and weight equiptment, the hotel also features a rooftop tennis court, 35-foot indoor pool, sauna, steam room, a whirl poool, golf cages and even a half-court basketball court. To top it all off, the club also has treatment rooms for massages, facials, and other beauty treatments.
Dining
There is an array of restaurants to suit every diners needs. Collins Kitchen is an award-winning signature restaurant where we had breakfast each morning. We were spoilt for choice with a dedicated smoothie and juice bar, cold cuts and carving station, patisseries hand-made by their in-house chef and an extensive wok and steamer selection. Collins Kitchen also serves up lunch and dinner which has a casual yet extensive menu.
To highlight Melbourne’s cocktail scene, Ru-Co Bar showcases an inimitable flair, serving up unique cocktails and flavours. The menu here features an extensive list of signature cocktails, craft beers, a what seemed like a never ending list of single malt whiskeys and cognacs and a premium wine list. What my favourite part was about the bar was the stunning courtyard with alfresco seating (and fireside seating for when its cold!) which made our stay in Melboune all that more memorable.
Other eateries are Bistro Bar - the perfect spot to get your caffeine fix or pre-dinner drink and The Lobby Lounge which is the all day dining at Grand Hyatt - perfect to relax or to catch up with friends or colleagues.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne and could not be raving about it more. If you’re looking to really immerse yourself in a hotel experience then the Grand Hyatt is the one, what more could you expect from a place that’s been providing luxury since 1986.
